WQOW News 18 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is seeking an energetic and skilled Meteorologist to join our evening team. We are committed to providing the most accurate and understandable forecasts across all platforms—broadcast, web, and social media—with a priority on local, impactful coverage.


JOB EXPERIENCE

The Role: Forecasting & Storytelling

We are looking for an upbeat, intelligent, and charismatic individual who thrives on deadline and under pressure. You will be a key communicator, delivering critical weather information to our loyal viewing audience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

? Produce and deliver accurate, engaging, and understandable on-air weather forecasts for our morning newscasts.

? Cover severe weather events, providing continuous, life-saving information and graphics.

? Generate digital and social media content (videos, blog posts, graphics) to keep our audience informed 24/7.

? Collaborate with the news team to craft weather-related stories and special segments.

? Produce live and recorded weather updates for our valued radio partners.

? Maintain and update weather systems, ensuring the seamless operation of our forecasting tools.

? Represent WQOW at community events and station appearances.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

? Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field preferred.

? A minimum of one year of on-air broadcast meteorology experience is required.

? Exceptional on-camera presence, communication, and storytelling skills.

? Proven ability to work independently and as part of a high-energy, deadline-driven team.

? Demonstrated knowledge of severe weather forecasting and climate trends in the Midwest is a strong plus.
