DESCRIPTION
KTAL NBC 6, KMSS FOX 33, KSHV V45 and ktalnews.com, Shreveport, LA is looking for a Weather Content Producer to join our team! This individual must be passionate, motivated, and goal-oriented with a positive work ethic and the desire to WIN and EXCEL to start now!
The Weather Content Producer will produce and distribute content elements across several media platforms.
Additional duties include generating daily content for the station's CTV Digital platforms, on-air weathercasts on our stations, work with Your Weather Authority team during severe weather, and make appearances in our community.
This position also requires strong digital and social savvy with the ability to turn out sharable, weather-centric content designed to drive our digital platforms. Previous experience on OBS platforms will be extremely beneficial.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produces and presents weather reports for all platforms
- Ensures that all weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
- Writes and delivers weather stories in a clear and concise manner
- Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating weather programming and other content
- Responds to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent newsrooms situations as required
- Works closely with the weather team and management to develop comprehensive weather coverage
- Participates in promotional activities including public appearances
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
- Writes web stories detailing the local forecast on a daily basis
- Digital-first mindset
- Strong social-media presence
- Updates social media accounts
- Produces live-streaming content across all platforms
- Produces original content for CTV, VOD and all other platforms
- Writes and edits stories for KTALnews.com
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications/Journalism and/or Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- One year minimum experience in news gathering and/or production
- Experience writing, producing and editing on a desktop editing system
- Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms
