DESCRIPTION
KLZK-FM is a public radio station committed to delivering classical music and cultural programming to Lubbock and the South Plains. We strive to provide engaging content that entertains, educates, and enriches our diverse audience.
The Station Manager is responsible for the overall management and operation of KLZK-FM. This includes overseeing programming, budgeting, fundraising, community engagement, and staff management. The Station Manager will work closely with the team to ensure the station fulfills its mission of providing quality public radio programming to the Lubbock and the South Plains.
JOB EXPERIENCE
1. Leadership and Management:
• Provide leadership and vision for the station’s strategic planning and development.
• Oversee daily operations, including programming, production, and administrative functions.
• Supervise, mentor, and support station staff and volunteers to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
2. Programming and Content Development:
• Develop and implement a programming strategy that aligns with the station’s mission and audience needs.
• Ensure a diverse range of high-quality programming, including music, and cultural content.
• Monitor and evaluate programming to maintain quality standards and compliance with FCC regulations.
3. Fundraising and Financial Management:
• Develop and manage the station’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
• Plan and execute fundraising strategies, including membership drives, grants, underwriting, and special events.
• Build relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners to secure financial support.
4. Community Engagement and Outreach:
• Serve as the primary representative of KLZK-FM in the community, fostering relationships with listeners, local organizations, and stakeholders.
• Develop and implement outreach initiatives to expand the station’s audience and impact.
• Organize and participate in public events, community forums, and listener engagement activities.
5. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
• Ensure compliance with all applicable FCC regulations, copyright laws, and station policies.
• Maintain accurate records and reports for licensing, grant funding, and other regulatory requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in radio broadcasting, with at least 3 years in a management role.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Proven experience in programming, fundraising, and financial management.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and community relations skills.
• Knowledge of FCC regulations and public radio standards.
• Passion for public radio and a commitment to serving the community.
