DESCRIPTION
First Coast News, On Your Side – NBC/ABC affiliate based in Jacksonville, Florida – is searching for a Senior Digital Content Producer who thrives in a fast-paced news environment and has an audience-first approach to writing, producing, and distributing content on the station’s digital platforms.
This journalism-oriented role will create and edit high-quality, digital-friendly video content that can extend to broadcast and write engaging content by utilizing SEO best practices, monitor digital trends to drive decisions on all of First Coast News’ digital platforms.
Successful Digital Content Producers at First Coast News are leaders in the newsroom responsible for the audience experience on all our digital, social, and streaming platforms. They should take initiative in creating content around key digital drivers – like breaking news, weather, sports, politics, and user-generated content – that engage the audience.
Qualified candidates should be strong journalists above all, with the ability to write quickly, accurately, and succinctly. They should also have solid news judgment and experience producing video and copy-editing content for digital platforms.
A working knowledge of online CMS, video and photo-editing software is preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Creating and editing high-quality, digital-friendly video content that can extend to broadcast
• Collaborating with leadership, reporters, producers and photographers across the newsroom to create videos and implement strategies for all digital platforms
• Utilizing available video and platform optimization tools (such as TubeBuddy) to improve digital video content performance through such attributes as thumbnails, tags, playlists and more.
• Monitoring metrics, looking for trends and identifying growth opportunities for all First Coast News’ video platforms, including (but not limited to) the website, mobile app, social channels, YouTube and OTT, including 24/7 stream
• Oversee First Coast News live-streaming strategies and execution through VMix and additional digital video tools
• Identifying and crafting engaging video headlines and abstracts that utilize keywords and SEO best practices
• Writing content for platforms including firstcoastnews.com, YouTube and social media
• Editing and consulting on digital video content from internal and external content partners and ensuring sophisticated distribution through targeted content marketing
JOB EXPERIENCE

REQUIREMENTS
• BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field preferred
• 3-5 years of experience
• Has strong news and editorial judgment and understands the tenets of professional journalism
• Strong knowledge of AP style and copy editing
• Experience in online CMS, photo and video-editing systems
• Be well-versed in SEO best-practices
• Skills in producing engaging, audience-driven content
• Strong social media skills on platforms, including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
• Knowledge of ENPS, Photoshop and Edius is a plus
• An understanding of reading and interpreting digital metrics
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines
• Ability to handle live, breaking news situations and rapidly changing events in a calm manner
