WBNS-FM 97.1 The Fan, a TEGNA-owned sports radio station in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a dynamic and engaging Sports Talk Show Host. This is a unique opportunity for a talented broadcaster who thrives on storytelling, audience interaction, and delivering compelling sports content. The ideal candidate has strong opinions, deep sports knowledge, and the ability to plan and execute an entertaining, multi-hour show.
Responsibilities:
• Host live broadcasts from the studio and remote locations as needed, delivering informative and entertaining content.
• Collaborate with producers and the Program Director to achieve program goals and maintain show quality.
• Contribute to show planning, including story development, guest booking, and segment strategies.
• Stay informed on relevant sports topics through research and industry connections.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key figures in the local sports community.
• Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and contractual obligations with rights holders.
• Represent the station at live events, remote broadcasts, and public appearances.
• Participate in weekend shows as assigned.
• Maintain a regular presence at The Fan’s Columbus studios.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director/Operations Manager.
Requirements:
• Minimum two (2) years of experience hosting a sports talk show or equivalent (e.g., live streaming, podcasting).
• Strong knowledge of Columbus sports teams, players, and local sports culture.
• Engaging, contemporary on-air presence with excellent delivery.
• Familiarity with The Fan’s audience and Columbus broadcast market is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented broadcast environment.
