DESCRIPTION
At KING 5 we Stand for Truth. We are looking for a Sports MSJ who is passionate about telling sports stories of the Pacific Northwest through the voices of our diverse community. We need a passionate storyteller able to pivot quickly from covering professional sports teams to Olympic hopefuls to high school prep sports.
We want a sports journalist who goes beyond the play-by-play to tell important sports stories that impact the Pacific Northwest
Responsibilities:
• Pitch sports stories, conduct interviews, research stories, write/ shoot/ edit sports assignments
• Voice and front stories for all platforms
• Create web content, meet publication or broadcast deadlines
• Collaborate with KING’s award-winning sports team to cover daily assignments and plan for big sports coverage and special events
• Anchoring and reporting in the studio and in the field as needed
• Producing sportscasts as assigned

Requirements
• At least three years’ experience as a sports reporter/MSJ
• Must to research, write, and front sports stories on tight deadlines.
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
• Ability to work mornings, nights and weekend shifts
• Strong writing skills, both for digital and broadcast platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field.
• Active presence on social media.
• Fluency in a second language is a plus.

Compensation Range: $36.00/ hour – $37.50/ hour
