KTVB, TEGNA’s NBC affiliate in? beautiful Boise, ID ?is recruiting a Sports Director/Multi-Skilled Journalist who can handle breaking news in studio and in the field, appreciates the art of great writing, shooting, editing, storytelling, the power of context, and wants to lead our sports team to produce compelling content the Idaho sports fan wants and expects. This person must have the knowledge and passion to cover all sports important to Boise, from the Broncos to the Steelheads, the Olympics to Boise Soccer, and high school sports.
The winning candidate has a track record of sports leadership. In addition to daily anchoring and content duties, this position requires supervising members of the sports team to ensure competitiveness and excellence.
Candidates should have a?portfolio with examples of strong anchoring in studio and on the field, breaking news reporting, digital writing, and creative, innovative storytelling. We need someone who can cultivate sources, follow up on tips, and turn them into great stories and exclusives. Shooting, editing, and producing are requirements of the role, using the highest production values.
Candidates should also bring a mature understanding of the principles of journalism, good news judgment, and be a team player willing to do whatever it takes to help make sure our products – both linear and digital – are strong and compelling.

Responsibilities:
• Deliver sports news, both live and in studio, in an engaging, exciting, and informative manner.
• Generate creative, content-driven live shots.
• Create strategy to leverage the best ideas and content to grow KTVB's audience on streaming.
• Interview news subjects and research for facts and credibility.
• Host our Sunday 30-minute sports show, Sunday Sports Extra.
• Provide creative content and ideas to make the show stand out with storytelling, exclusive interviews, and guests weekly.
• Create and maintain strong relationships within the sports market, as well as sources, which lead to breaking sports stories.
• Develop story ideas, write, shoot, and edit news stories for linear, digital, and streaming.
• Write and post regularly on all digital platforms including social media.
• Community and/or talent appearances.
• Perform other tasks as needed.

Requirements:
• BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in broadcast and digital journalism, preferably as an anchor/reporter.
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines.
• Strong social media skills, including an active sports presence on X, Instagram and Facebook.
• MSJ portion will require the ability to shoot, write, edit, and produce.
• Drone certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with Edius and graphics creation, preferred.
• Familiarity with or a reason to locate to Boise will set your application apart.
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends as well as travel.
