DESCRIPTION

KREM 2, TEGNA’s CBS affiliate in Spokane, Washington, is searching for a Senior Digital Producer to work with the Digital Director to grow engagement from news viewers across multiple platforms. This role involves being a leader with good news judgment on what will drive traffic to KREM 2’s website.

The Senior Digital Producer will help create content and structure plans for daily news and other special events while building leadership skills that influence the digital content team and the entire newsroom.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the news digital producers and managers to coordinate daily news efforts, including story selection, writing and copy editing, distribution, and live streaming.
  • Use metrics and social listening to find, pitch, and produce unique?content?and story angles.
  • Coordinate digital content team efforts in daily coverage, original content, and special projects focused on engaging content that will drive the station’s KPIs.
  • Attend daily editorial meetings to help make decisions based on social listening, digital data, and live metrics.
  • Dynamically cover breaking news for digital/social platforms through push alerts, live streams, social posts, and web articles.
  • Help train digital team members in best digital and social practices – including SEO and headline writing – to create engaging content that is specific to platforms while maintaining accuracy and balance

REQUIREMENTS

  • Five years producing and showcasing?digital?and social?content?in a newsroom
  • Versed in online metrics such as Google Analytics, Taboola Newsroom, Social News Desk, Facebook Insights, YouTube Analytics, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Content Management Systems, live stream technology, and social media algorithms
  • Skilled copy editor
  • Ability to work mornings, nights, and weekends

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in related field – journalism, communications, broadcast
