WTHR NBC13 and WALV MeTV, TEGNA’s in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a Sales Assistant. This position is responsible for managing the complex day-to-day responsibilities of assigned accounts and team members. The Sales Assistant will help drive sales by providing an optimal customer experience and aligning the company’s multimedia solutions with our customers’ marketing objectives.   • Works directly with the Director of Sales in assisting them with daily tasks.
  • Works in tandem with AE’s, other support team and managers.
  • Attends sales meetings and training to obtain sales, product and process information, and to keep abreast of company products and services in order to articulate to client, when appropriate.
  • May help facilitate execution of digital campaigns sold by designated Account Executives. This includes ensuring all digital campaigns are executed on-time, accurately booked and trafficked, and regularly monitored to ensure successful delivery.
  • Work with Account Executives to aid in the development of new/incremental revenue, maintenance of contracts, order entry, generating avails, traffic, make-goods, collections and overall customer service as needed. Checks for accuracy.
  • Works with Traffic Department to facilitate accurate scheduling of customers’ traffic, make-goods, revisions, problem solving, and communicating directly with the clients.
  • Able to make decisions and solve problems independently in support of customers.
  • Serves as a backup to Traffic and National.
  • Regular tracking of client audience delivery using Nielsen ratings and digital fulfillment.
  • Assist with paid programming, national, and political orders.
  • Self-motivation and willingness to work as a team player are essential attributes.
  • Creativity, flexibility, and ability to change with our industry are also keys to success.
  • Works on monthly expense reports.


1-3 years


  • Minimum 2 years of account service in a professional, fast paced environment.
  • College Degree preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate directly with clients.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and projects under deadline pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and extremely computer literate.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to hit deadlines.
  • Creative and able to adapt quickly to change.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organization and time management.
