KREM 2, the TEGNA station in Spokane, WA, is looking for a Producer to join our award-winning team in the beautiful Inland Northwest.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves news and enjoys working on the cutting edge of television, digital and social media. KREM cross-trains producers on television and digital platforms.
This is a full-time, hourly position that reports to an executive producer.
Responsibilities:
- Line produce newscasts
- Work with executive producer and other news leadership team members to consistently build high-quality newscasts
- Create unique newscasts with segments evoking emotion
- Write in an exciting, accurate, creative and conversational way
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics, live pictures and new forms of media to enhance stories
- Use consumer analytics in determining content
- Use social listening and independent sources to gather story ideas
- Write digital stories and post them to various digital platforms
- Research for facts and credibility
- Advocate for underrepresented people, communities and viewpoints to have a voice and presence in newscasts
- Perform other tasks as required by news leadership team
- This position may include morning, nightside and/or weekend work
Requirements:
- Educational background in journalism/media or strong internship experience
- One year experience working as a journalist preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Passion for journalism and fact-based reporting
- Ability to prioritize and manage requests from various sources with an ability to work well with a team within deadlines
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Outstanding interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills
- Knowledge of the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene market is a plus
