DESCRIPTION
Eyewitness News, (WEHT/WTVW) serving the Evansville, Indiana, DMA, is accepting applications for a summer News internship. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain real life experience in a working newsroom. The Internship can be tailored to fit the needs, interests and availability of the student.
JOB EXPERIENCE
- Shadow reporters, photographers, producers and other newsroom personnel
- Make calls to potential newsmakers to set up appointments and gather facts
- Answer phones and relay appropriate information
- Gather information from news scenes and news makers
- Log information received from news scenes and news makers
- Writes stories and reports based on information you or others have gathered
- Retrieve archive video and stories
- Pitch story ideas
- Set up interviews
- Work on writing, photography, editing, and other skills essential in a newsroom
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be currently enrolled in a college program pursuing a degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
- Basic understanding of newsroom operations, technology, and language
- Basic understanding of video photography and editing
- Basic understanding of current events
- Must be able to receive college credit for the internship
- This is an unpaid internship
