Job Summary/Description:
We are looking for a talented, and creative News Producer to work on our top-rated 4PM, one-hour newscast. Experience is strongly preferred. This is a fun newscast to produce. Very different from the other evening newscasts and very different from most afternoon newscasts. No time spent with on-set interviews and other time-waster segments. This is all about producing an interesting, "can't look away" newscast that sends a producer home each day with a real sense of, "Hey, I really created something today!" This team has very experienced, former big-market anchors who can pull off anything you can produce. Come join a happy, up beat newsroom in a great place to live and get a great schedule too!
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
– Writing
– Build newscast rundowns
– Gathering news by phone, via web
– Working with live reporters
– Creating "moments" in each half-hour for anchor interaction
– Format scripts
– Occasionally edit some videos when needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
?? College degree in Radio/Television/Broadcast Journalism or Journalism. Some experience producing in a commercial television station is a plus. Must have strong writing, organizational skills, and excellent communication skills. Must be able to work under deadline pressures. Must work well with newsmakers, contacts, viewing public and others. Required to work overnights/mornings, and some holidays. This position may occasionally be asked to fill in on other shifts including weekends.
