About WALB: 

WALB-TV is the dominant #1 news station and award-winning NBC/ABC affiliate in Albany, GA. WALB began broadcasting on April 7th, 1954 becoming the flagship TV station of Gray Television. We service more than 40 counties across South Georgia, including two news bureaus in the cities of Tifton and Valdosta.

Job Description/Summary:

This is not a position for a first-time anchor. You will be replacing a legacy anchor who's been with the station for 46 years! We're looking for someone who will be involved in the community, a mentor to younger journalists, and someone with great passion for journalism and storytelling.

Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

– Lead by example, both in the newsroom and in the community.
– Understand and execute ethical, responsible news judgment.
– Develop strong community sources and generate enterprise story ideas from them.
– Actively engage in the editorial process and mentor younger journalists.
– Help lead news staff, providing insight, guidance, managerial feedback, and reporter script approvals.


?? Demonstrated experience anchoring a range of newscasts and telling engaging stories. Experience with investigative journalism and developing enterprise content. Education background of either journalism or communications. Some leadership experience is required.
