Gray Television

DESCRIPTION

About Gray Television:

Gray Television is a leading media company that owns and operates high-quality stations in 113 television markets that collectively reach 36 percent of US television households.

We constantly strive for excellence. Through upgrading to the latest technology and seeking new ways to stay on top in our markets, we focus on training and development of the best and brightest employees in the business.

About KMVT:

KMVT – Your Hometown Station. No other station in Idaho can make that claim. The KMVT brand mission is not a slogan. It’s not the final sentence in promos. It is the way we approach preparing, producing, and presenting our news product. It is who we are and how we treat the news. It’s our web presence, our live and local news and weather coverage, and our enterprise reporting for all hometowns in Southern Idaho. KMVT (CBS) is the dominate television station in the market and the only full-service News station in Southern Idaho. We also operate KSVT (FOX) and NMVT (CW) television stations in the market.

Job Summary/Description:

KMVT is looking for a morning meteorologist to add to the team! This candidate will produce a forecast for our morning show from 5:00 AM until 7:00 AM as well as our Noon show. In addition to putting together a forecast, this candidate will be responsible for social media posts pertaining to weather on all platforms.

Southern Idaho is a very challenging area to forecast for! The difference in elevation from the lowest point in the seven-county forecast area is over 9,000’ (from 2,700’ up to 12,000’!), which creates many micro-climates within itself. Mountain towns like Sun Valley have seen over 48” of snow within a 48-hour span and has also had snowfall as late as June 30th! There is another ski resort in a completely separate mountain range that averages 500” a year! If you prefer drier weather, Twin Falls itself averages less than a foot of precipitation annually, so there is something for everyone! From a temperature standpoint, July and August will feature triple digit heat thanks to southwesterly flow, while the middle of winter likely doesn’t get AS cold as you’d think Idaho would (lower 20s). 12-15 severe thunderstorm warnings are issued each year, with the occasional tornado warning. You WILL become a better meteorologist and forecaster here!

Aside from putting together a forecast, the candidate will be responsible for social media posts pertaining to weather on all platforms. Anchor weekday morning and noon newscasts. Develop contacts and relationships in the community. Promote and attend KMVT sponsored events.

Please note – primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the information listed above

Qualifications/Requirements:

– Degree in Meteorology desired.
– Professional experience desired, but not required.
– Knowledge of weather graphic systems, more specifically WSI MAX, desired.
– Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
– Strong social media presence.
