Job Summary/Description:

KBTX is looking for an innovative broadcast meteorologist to join our award-winning PinPoint Weather Team. You’ll produce and deliver dynamic, compelling, and relatable forecasts for our newscasts and digital platforms that demonstrate Brazos Valley weather in a compelling way and offer the first alert of changing conditions.

You’ll produce and deliver dynamic, compelling, and relatable forecasts for our newscasts and digital platforms that demonstrate Brazos Valley weather in a compelling way and offer the first alert of changing conditions.

We’re looking for a meteorologist who lives for urgent, impactful coverage of what’s new, now and next, and excels in breaking weather situations. You’ll harness the largest and latest resources in the Brazos Valley to create content that resonates with viewers.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Analyzing weather data to produce quality, accurate forecasts that resonate with key demographics and provide a first alert of changing weather conditions
• Researching, writing, and producing daily content for television and digital platforms
• Working closely with management and the PinPoint Team to hone a consistent style and meteorology-focused editorial content
• Meeting daily deadlines for both broadcast and digital platforms in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications/Requirements:

• At least two years of experience in a TV newsroom are expected
• A CBM or CBM-eligible candidate with a college degree in meteorology or a related field is preferred
• Experience with ENPS and Grass Valley EDIUS is a big plus
• Candidates should also exhibit a good work ethic, strong people skills, the ability to be a team player and maintain a professional attitude
• While this position is primarily a weekday role, it requires availability to work weekends or special events when necessary and may require holiday work
