DESCRIPTION

WWLP-22News, an NBC affiliate, has an opening for a Meteorologist. Primary responsibilities include preparing and presenting weather forecasts on weekend morning newscasts; 3 days midweek weather, climate, science, and occasional general assignment reporting, and fill-in weather anchoring as needed."

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Produces and presents weather reports for all platforms.
Ensures that all weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Writes and delivers weather stories in a clear and concise manner.
Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating weather programming and other content.
Responds to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent newsrooms situations as required.
Works closely with the weather team to develop comprehensive weather coverage.
Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Writes web stories detailing the local forecast on a daily basis.
Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites.

JOB EXPERIENCE

Prior Experience or Training Required: Bachelor's degree in meteorological science required. At least three years of on-air television experience in forecasting and presenting weather. Certified meteorologist desired. Some travel may be required. Position requires work on weekends and holidays. Work may be performed in extreme outdoor temperatures.

REQUIREMENTS

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Solid vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation.
* Strong reporting skills.
* Understand importance of social media.

* Detail oriented.
