DESCRIPTION
KPRC 2, the Graham Media Group owned – NBC affiliate station in Houston, Texas is looking for a full-time I.T. Manager. KPRC, the first TV station in Houston and the market leader, is investing in its future with the evolution of a new “Next Generation Media Facility”, and we are looking for a talented individual to join our technical team and be a part of this journey to success.
JOB EXPERIENCE
The I.T. Manager will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the IT environment for KPRC 2. The I.T environment contains a blend of Windows and Linux servers, Cisco switches and routers, Active Directory, MS DNS, MS Exchange. The I.T. Manager will also be responsible for end user support with Windows desktops as well as some embedded systems. There will be standard I.T. help-desk responsibilities and you will set a policy for others on our team to use as guidance. The ideal candidate will need to provide timely support for needs arising during live broadcasts as well as be able to guide the implementation and maintenance of infrastructure components with minimal supervision.
Although the position has predictable hours, you must be available to address unforeseen emergencies as they happen.
REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a computing or engineering program (or at least five years of I.T. experience)
- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP and networking concepts including CoS, QoS, VLAN, Multicast, IGMP.
- Working knowledge of network appliances such as hardware firewalls, VPN servers, and VoIP
- Ability to work independently and manage team responsibilities
- The successful candidate must be a strong troubleshooter. The ability to use critical thinking and inductive reasoning to analyze a malfunctioning set of systems, quickly identify the root cause, and deploy a fix is crucial.
- You must be familiar with the deployment and tracking of physical assets as well as device management for deployment of standardized software and security fixes via GPO or other techniques.
Preferred:
- Experience with virtualization, most notably vSphere implemented on HP DHCI architecture including centralized storage.
- Broadcast experience is a plus. Familiarity with products from Grass Valley, Avid, Ross Video, Telestream, and WideOrbit would be ideal.
