Job Summary/Description:

KY3/KSPR, the high-rated NBC and ABC affiliate in Springfield, MO (market 74) is looking for the newest member of our lifestyle program – The Place. We want an experienced television producer and multimedia journalist who loves to be creative with storytelling, and script writings for tapings, and can have an on-camera presence. The successful candidate will help the executive producer with writing copy and help shoot and edit stories for The Place. We want someone who can even go the extra mile by helping set up, shoot, bullet point, and edit compelling stories for our clients. We are a television station that values creativity, hard work, and enterprise story ideas. We will, in turn, give you feedback to help you grow and equipment to help you succeed.

Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

• Produce daily shows for the Place, including script writing and boothing the show
• Research, gather, shoot, write, edit, and front stories for on-air and online in the most accurate, appealing, timely and creative way using all sources
• Work with our sales clients to achieve quality stories and segments
• Conduct interviews in the field and on our set
• Develop and maintain sources of information and knowledge about assignments
• Able to communicate clearly to executive producer and teammates
• Ability to shoot video in sequences that help tell the story on-air and online
• Knowledge of lighting and use of natural sound is preferred
• Must have the ability to edit on non-linear equipment and to adapt to new technology.
• Demonstrate sound news judgment, and collaborate with others to present the story in the best way
• Must be able to utilize non-linear editing equipment on a daily basis like Adobe and Edius
• Participate in the story selection process through meetings, daily contribution of lead story ideas centering on safety and security is required
• Write and stack stories in ENPS
• Follow clothing and appearance guidelines
• Must be a visual storyteller; perform creative stand-ups
• Be willing to learn or possess a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area, including people, places, things, and history
• Critique, feedback, and training are part of the job
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
• Must be able to handle several tasks at once
• Must have flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends, mornings and holidays

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field is preferred, but not required
• Experience in a television newsroom or lifestyle program is a must
• 1-3 years’ experience in shooting and editing preferred
