What We Need:

We’re looking for a skilled news editor

                                                                             

What You'll Do:

  • Gather, write, edit and prepare content for a busy newsroom

  • Provide news anchors with stories and audio

  • Do phone interviews

  • Provide logistical planning and insight to upcoming events, special programs and/or elements to be included in news coverage

  • Cover local/regional and national news events

  • Post information onto websites

  • General newsroom responsibilities

                                                                             

What You'll Need:

  • A degree in journalism or equivalent work experience

  • Excellent grammar

  • Excellent broadcast writing skills

  • Excellent editing ability

  • Excellent typing skills

  • Knowledge of the Mervin Block style of writing

  • Knowledge of local audience’s interests and preferences

  • Strong time management skills; adept at setting priorities and managing deadlines

  • Ability to plan and organize, manage projects and multi task in a fast-paced environment

  • Stress tolerance, especially with tight deadlines, breaking news and a demanding environment

  • Ability to work within prescribed guidelines without needing close supervision

  • Problem solving skills within established procedures

  • Understanding of when to seek guidance for unforeseen problems

Compensation:

Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data.
