DESCRIPTION

KENS 5 in San Antonio, TX has an opening for an?IT Specialist. This position builds, strategizes, innovates, and leads IT technical support. He or she will manage and maintain all technical systems and equipment ensuring error free operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for technical areas of the facility (including broadcast technologies & IT systems).
  • Develop, document, and implement best practices, maintenance procedures, and proactive changes to existing systems to promote continual service improvements.
  • Manage helpdesk system, tracking incidents and requests, ensuring tickets are updated and progressing toward resolution.
  • Participate in engineering planning, ensure projects are implemented and completed on schedule using industry standards, best practices, and are fully documented.
  • In-depth knowledge of broadcast television technologies including; IT and infrastructure, Critical Air-Chain, Playout and Control Room Automation, Newsroom Computer Systems, Live Streaming, and traditional broadcast technology.
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and solve medium to complex technical issues, IT or Broadcast in real-time.
  • Proactively maintain/manage on-air and IT related operational systems and components.

REQUIREMENTS

Requirements

  • 1+ years current television experience in an engineering role supporting on-air/critical systems.
  • Organized and detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills including authoring and maintaining polished technical support documents such as FAQs, step-by-step instructions, and checklists.
  • Comfortable supporting a dynamic, evolving, and fast-paced news environment.
  • Ability to interact and communicate at a high level with technical staff, production personnel, managers, and co-workers.
  • This position requires being on call and flexibility to work odd hours during maintenance windows or as emergencies dictate.

Travel: Rarely: less than 10%

Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment

Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
