Job Summary/Description:
The executive producer is responsible for the overall look and editorial content of all newscasts, which includes working with Media Control Center personnel responsible for putting those newscasts on the air. And this person is also responsible for producing special projects and special assignments from time to time and also to fill in to “line” produce newscasts in the absence of a regular “line” producer. This person also assists in the evaluation of news employees each year and assists the news director in reviewing, interviewing and hiring news department personnel.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
• Coordinate newscast content and presentation across multiple platforms
• Supervise, guide, and teach producers, and on-air talent
• Enhance and support content with graphics, video and station branding
• Review content for multiple platforms
• Supervise pre-production to ensure quality and ethical standards and coordination between Media Control Center and design staff
• Supervise the writing of content
• Manage performance for assigned direct reports
• Post content to station's web sites
• Knowledge and demonstration of editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws
• Create tactics and strategies to increase demo performance in key target areas for multiple platforms
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Must have a keen sense of logistics and the ability to work successfully in challenging situations, strong leadership skills, and news judgment.
• 3 years experience as a Producer in a larger market or 2 years experience as an Executive Producer in a small size market.
• Newsroom-deadline driven and fast-paced.
