Job Summary/Description:
WSMV is looking for an experienced Executive Producer to guide its award-winning investigative unit. The Executive Producer of Investigations must be detail-oriented and possess strong editorial judgment and an understanding of data journalism to develop meaningful stories that impact people's lives.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
– Help originate impactful investigative content across all news platforms
– Develop investigative angles to daily stories
– Research issues and obtain government and other public records
– Coordinate assignments of investigative reporters and photographers and manage the investigative calendar
– Manage tips from the tip line and email
– Produce investigative documentaries and podcasts
– Proof story scripts
– Work effectively with senior news management and WSMV's Marketing Department and digital team
Qualifications/Requirements:
– At least five years of news experience, including a minimum of three years in investigative journalism with a record of generating investigative content that achieved results
– Proficiency in the use of investigative tools, including public records and data analysis
– Strong writing and script editing ability
– Effective organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team, including with other departments
– Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
