Position title: Director of Streaming
Position Status: Full Time, Exempt
About us: NonStop Local KHQ is the Inland Northwest’s leader in local news, weather and sports coverage on television and digital platforms! Affiliated with the NBC network, KHQ is the flagship station of KHQ Incorporated and Cowles Montana Media.
About this opportunity:
The Director of Streaming will-
• Oversee the daily programming of streaming channels across platforms like the NonStop Local app and websites, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and others. Curate, schedule, and update content to ensure timely, engaging, and relevant news coverage lives on all digital and social platforms.
• Coordinate with editorial, production, and technical teams to integrate breaking news stories into the streaming lineup effectively.
• Identify stories with market crossover appeal and ensure they are shared and localized for broader audience engagement.
• Maintain up-to-date news streams and archives for easy access by viewers across markets.
• Lead the production of live reports and breaking news coverage, collaborating with on-air talent, reporters, and technical staff to deliver high-quality updates under tight deadlines.
• Write, edit, and deliver concise and accurate live updates that resonate with the streaming audience.
• Respond quickly to breaking news events, ensuring seamless live production.
• Work with digital, social, and traditional broadcast teams to ensure content alignment across platforms.
• Coordinate with the marketing team on promotable story strategies and generate new content ideas.
• Partner with media collaborators and content managers across stations to plan and execute company-wide initiatives, such as major events and multi-station coverage projects.
• Ensure company properties consistently have the most current and coordinated information.
• Work with station vendors to develop and enhance the platform to improve user experience.
• Monitor streaming performance and viewer feedback to refine content strategies.
• Track metrics to assess viewer engagement and content popularity, adjusting programming accordingly.
• Respond to feedback to improve the overall viewer experience and support local market needs.
• Establish workflow procedures to create efficiencies and enhance productivity across stations.
• Ensure compliance with copyright, licensing, and other legal requirements.
• Stay updated with industry trends in streaming technology and digital news delivery to enhance performance.
• Unify weather and fire coverage plans across platforms and stations, ensuring consistency and relevance in content delivery.
• Provide constructive feedback and coaching to team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Act as a mentor and leader, promoting collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
What you will contribute to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Media, Digital Media, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in digital media, OTT streaming, or content distribution.
- Proven experience in managing streaming platforms and digital content distribution in a television or media environment.
- Strong understanding of streaming technology, video-on-demand platforms, live streaming, and digital content management.
- Experience in team management, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data and metrics to drive decisions and improve performance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with tools like Microsoft Office and Teams and modern content management systems.
- Strong ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work independently.
- Proven understanding of responsible journalism principles and strong news judgment.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills.
- Leadership skills with the ability to guide teams effectively and provide constructive feedback.
- Demonstrated adaptability to new technologies and workflows.
- Creativity and originality in storytelling.
- Personal responsibility and the ability to admit mistakes while driving improvements.
What we offer:
Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000 Per/Yr + Signing Bonus
