WFFF (FOX44) & WVNY (ABC22), located in Burlington, VT, America’s most beautiful college city, have an opening for a motivated and experienced Director of Sales with a proven track record of success.

This new opportunity in Vermont’s academic, medical and financial center will report directly to the General Manager while working closely with other Department Heads to consistently deliver on the station’s strategic goals for growth. We are looking for an energetic leader who will build on the success of our Integrated Marketing sales team. A successful candidate will have business acumen with a high sense of urgency. They must have strong interpersonal skills and be visible in the station and in the community. The Director of Sales is responsible for achieving all revenue goals by building a plan, communicating that plan and driving that plan.

Nestled between the snow-capped peaks of the Green Mountains and on the shores of Lake Champlain, sometimes referred to as the 6th Great Lake, Burlington offers the recreational athlete both snow and water sports opportunities, as well as a renowned farm-to-table, local brewery, and performance arts culture. Burlington is a 3-1/2 hour drive to the fabled seashores of Maine and the history and sports in Boston. Mais oui. It’s also just 90-minutes to Montreal and the best offerings of French Canada.


Essential Duties:

  • Leader of the Sales Team
  • Drive new business and digital sales development
  • Manage inventory, rates, political sales processes and revenue forecasting
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing packages and projects to increase stations’ revenue
  • Build and maintain relationships with Local & National clients and advertising agencies
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service
  • Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly financial reporting
  • Prepare revenue budgets and monitor expense budget for the department
  • Make decisions regarding hiring, training, evaluation, promotion & termination of Sales employees
  • Direct the Accounts Receivable efforts of the Sales Department
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising or Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
  • Minimum five years’ experience in Television Sales Management
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Experience guiding, directing and motivating others, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
  • Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them
  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach and mentor talent
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, WideOrbit Sales & Traffic, Matrix, Nielsen, Comscore, and Prime Lingo
