DESCRIPTION
WBIR, TEGNA’s NBC station in Knoxville, is searching for a Digital Content Producer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a vision for what local news can and should be on digital, social, and streaming platforms. This person will have an audience-first approach to producing and distributing WBIR’s editorial content, with emphasis on video, across all WBIR digital, mobile, app, streaming, and social media platforms.
WBIR’s Digital Content Producers are leaders in the newsroom who are responsible for quality content and audience experience on all WBIR digital, social, and streaming platforms. They enterprise content through social listening, being plugged into the community, pitching stories, and producing original content for our audience whenever and wherever they are, on whatever device they are using at the time. They work as part of the larger content team to break news and tell great stories on all platforms in a 24/7 environment.
Responsibilities:
• Write and publish breaking news stories and videos, as well as original content
• Curate and schedule content on all WBIR platforms, including website, mobile app, social media and streaming platforms
• Use analytics to determine content creation and distribution
• Monitor news releases, Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), Instagram, and other online news sources for content ideas and updates
• Edit reporter stories for grammar, clarity, and AP style and optimize using digital content best practices
• Work with all newsroom departments on content coverage, broadcast-digital coordination, and social listening
• Identify compelling, unique stories and user-generated content of interest to our audience
• Ensure the newsroom upholds journalistic integrity and the WBIR brand across platforms

Requirements
• Willingness and flexibility to work various shifts as assigned, including weekends and filling in for other producers
• Familiarity with CMS systems and SEO
• Sound news judgment and ability to work both autonomously and as a part of a team.
• Understanding of social media strategy on platforms including Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and X (formerly known as Twitter)
• Strong organizational skills and abilities to prioritize and juggle various digital tasks
• Knowledge of AP style and copy editing
Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
