Job Summary/Description:

WGEM-TV, the dominant #1 station and technologically advanced NBC affiliate in Quincy, Illinois, seeks a Digital Content Producer to collaborate with our award-winning news team. We are looking for someone with fresh ideas for our digital platforms. You will have creative control of your work and you will be supported by a market-leading news team.

A candidate should have a passion for news gathering, strong news judgment, and the ability to thrive in breaking news situations. Candidates are expected to think quickly and clearly and display strong leadership and organizational skills. This job requires flexible hours and the ability to produce compelling written and video content for digital platforms. Ability to craft compelling headlines and social media posts to create maximum engagement. They also can work independently to act on news tips and confirm details with officials. Having a working understanding of AP-style writing and being comfortable in front of a camera is a plus.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

– Producing dynamic written and video news content for distribution across all WGEM digital platforms
– Working quickly to produce breaking news stories
– Collaborating with reporters to help expand daily stories with digital content
– Help maintain social media platforms with fresh content with a focus on quality over quantity
– Help digital team plan and create original streaming and on demand news and lifestyle content
– Help maintain and oversee quality control on all digital platforms, including WGEM.com
– Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

?? Minimum requirements include a college degree in journalism or similar, outstanding writing ability, excellent communication, self-motivation, and organizational skills. Must thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
