About Station:

KWQC-TV6 is a dominant NBC affiliate, serving Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois as the Quad Cities’ #1 station for news, information and entertainment programming. The Quad Cities area is located right on the Mississippi River just 2.5 hours from Chicago, 2 from Des Moines, 4 from St. Louis and 5.5 from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Job Summary/Responsibilities:

KWQC is looking to expand and grow our digital content, are you up to the challenge? A candidate should have a passion for news gathering, strong news judgment, and the ability to thrive in breaking news situations. Candidates are expected to be able to think quickly and clearly and display strong leadership and organizational skills. This job requires flexible hours and the ability to produce compelling breaking news for our digital platforms and on-air. Candidates should craft compelling headlines and social media posts to create maximum engagement with every news story. They also can work independently to act on news tips and confirm details with officials. Also, have a working understanding of AP-style writing.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

– Producing dynamic written and video news content in a fast-paced environment for distribution across all KWQC digital and streaming platforms, including KWQC.com, our news app, digital news desk, and social media
– Working quickly to send out breaking news, weather, and traffic alerts, including push notifications
– Collaborating with digital team members and the newsroom to produce and distribute news content
– Posting to our social media platforms using digital publishing tools, video editing software, and other resources
– Creating innovative and user-friendly elements for consumption across our platforms
– Additional duties as assigned, including conducting interviews for stories to appear in a digital format or on air


– 1-2 years experience producing digital news and social media content preferred
– Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize tasks to meet numerous deadlines
– BA or BS in Journalism/Communications/English or equivalent background
