WNEP TV Wilkes Barre

WNEP-TV, TEGNA’s ABC affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, has an immediate opening for a Digital Content Producer. Our digital content producers are innovative storytellers. The right candidate needs to be able to write, post and push news and breaking news to the web and digital platforms. The position also requires editing and posting videos to the web, social media and streaming platforms.


  • Write and distribute original and breaking news content
  • Edit reporter stories for grammar, content and structure using AP style
  • Use creative production techniques like graphics and media (viewer pictures, UGC, etc.) to enhance stories
  • Capable of finding stories and creating engaging, native digital content
  • Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner
  • Research for facts and credibility
  • Use analytics and SEO tools, including Google Trends, in determining content creation and distribution
  • Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer


1-3 years


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field is desired
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of web production experience or similar experience in print or television newsrooms
  • Comfortable with working on a range of content management systems and expert in use of social media to promote and distribute news content
  • Ability to work professionally with station staff to put out the best possible digital product
  • Passion for the news, digital presentation and a commitment to fairness and accuracy
  • Curiosity about latest digital tools and a willingness to experiment with new ways to tell stories and reach a wider audience.
  • Know AP style as well as best web-production practices, including SEO, story packaging, and social media
  • Have a passion for and knowledge of web metric tools such as Google Analytics, and an ability to spot trends and identify opportunities.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays
