DESCRIPTION
The Digital Content Producer is responsible for producing and managing text, video and interactive content for WFLA. The ideal candidate will have solid grammar, spelling and writing skills; willingness to learn, take direction, is a quick thinker and can easily adapt to change while working in a fast-paced news environment.
JOB EXPERIENCE
- Develops and leads winning strategy for station content
- Expert understanding of Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms, finding new ways to use Social Media and our website to engage viewers
- Proven ability to properly produce content on a variety of digital publishing platforms and devices
- Must have the ability to work under tight deadlines and breaking news
- Reviews copy and will correct errors in content, grammar and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines
- Determines a story's emphasis, length, and format, and organizes material accordingly
- Research and analyze background informaton related to news stories in order to be able to provide complete and accurate information
- Gathers information about events through research, interviews, experience or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functions
- Checks reference materials such as books, news files, or public records to obtain relevant facts
- Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
- Must follow direction, be dependable and a self-starter
- Be able to adapt and learn new systems quickly
- Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in journalism; daily newspaper or news site experience required; live, working web samples and/or print pages preferred
- Working knowledge with content management systems (CMS), WordPress or blog applications, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, HTML, CSS, social media applications, Microsoft Office and video editing.
- CSS, Flash and other relevant technology skills is a plus
- Maintain positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments
- Responds positively to feedback
