DESCRIPTION

KING5, the TEGNA NBC affiliate in Seattle, WA is looking for a Crew-Chief of News Operations. Our ideal candidate will need to possess excellent leadership skills, the ability to be effective in a fast-paced, breaking news environment, and a commitment to providing an exceptional quality product for all news platforms. This individual must want to be part of a team that is focused on the audience in everything they do.

Responsibilities:

• Lead proper technical execution of daily live remotes, ingest and processing of newsfeeds; operation of microwave and satellite transmission/reception equipment and vehicles.

• Play a key role in planning and coordinating daily remote broadcasts and special productions.

• Provide leadership, coaching, development, and support to Team to increase overall performance and ensure alignment with KING’s strategic plan, core values, vision, and mission.

• Maintain quality control including problem recognition, follow-up, proactive promotion and consistency in product quality, and technical expertise from Team.

• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and safe, proficient operation of remote broadcast and associated equipment, including all ENG and SNG vehicles.

• Work effectively and collaboratively with newsroom and all other departments on content coverage and distribution.

• Provide proficient, detail-oriented ENG/SNG staff scheduling and vehicle/equipment maintenance.

• Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with vendors to maintain KING’s news vehicle fleet.

• Coordinate maintenance and repair of news vehicles and remote equipment.

• Balance multiple high-impact projects and reprioritize as needed.

• Assist in other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Budgeted Compensation: $31.25 – $34.62

REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:

• A minimum of at least three years’ experience working as a news engineer or equivalent.

• Experience in field engineering and production of live multi-camera broadcasts, live events, and remote field production.

• Must be able to work quickly, efficiently, and communicate effectively under pressure.

• Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.

• A high degree of attention to detail and the ability to problem-solve quickly.

• Valid Washington driver’s license and good driving record, able to lift up to 40lbs and occasionally up to 80 pounds with or without accommodation.

• Maintains quality control in this area including problem recognition and follow-up. Proactive in promoting consistency in product quality & technical expertise from staff members.
