Job Summary/Description:
This position will stay focused on breaking news and understand what an accountability story looks like in all its forms. This key newsroom role also excels at communication, collaboration, and creativity to make things happen from the desk to the newsroom.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Daily assignment planning and assist with long-term planning (including big event coverage) Assign news crews
* Closely monitor police scanners
* Make phone calls to get information to advance daily news stories
* Tactfully motivate news personnel for the best utilization of their individual talents
* Ability to calmly assign multiple news crews in breaking news situations
* Track local court proceedings and work with other local TV stations on pool coverage
* Work with news managers daily to win the day
Qualifications/Requirements:
* Detail-driven editor who is organized and can develop a logistics plan every day
* Experienced journalist with previous local newsroom experience
* College degree preferred
* Experience producing TV/digital stories, reporting, and local news videography is preferred
