WOI Local 5 in Des Moines is seeking a talented Anchor and Multi-Skilled Journalist to help the people of Central Iowa 'rise and shine.' The ideal candidate is a morning person who is energetic, engaging, and enterprising. This journalist will anchor Good Morning Iowa, report daily, and contribute regularly to social media platforms.? 

Responsibilities

  • Lead both on and off-camera, playing a pivotal role in shaping the show's direction, execution, and writing to ensure a seamless broadcast experience.
  • Deliver on-air news reports with enthusiasm and accuracy, capturing the audience's attention and maintaining trust.
  • Create compelling content that can lead shows, break news, and drive audience engagement, demonstrating an enterprising spirit.
  • Cultivate a network of news sources for general assignments and special interest areas, enhancing the depth and breadth of coverage.
  • Possess the skills to shoot, write, and edit content as a multi-skilled journalist.
  • Consistently write and post engaging content on all digital platforms and social media, extending the show's reach and influence.
  • Deliver exciting live reports that captivate viewers, showcasing on-the-spot reporting skills.
  • Available to Anchor all newscasts as needed, providing reliable and authoritative news coverage.
  • Take initiative in performing additional tasks as required by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and dedication to the team's success.

Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts in journalism, communications or other related degree.
  • Anchor experience is preferred.
  • Possess a clear understanding of the tenets of professional, ethical journalism.
  • Strong awareness of current events, especially at the local and regional level.
  • Must have organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of ENPS and Edius is a plus.
