Anchor/Evening
WVVA Television in Bluefield, WV is looking for a news anchor to join our award-winning team! We are looking for a candidate that will be regularly responsible for anchoring, producing and executing top-notch newscasts. A newsroom leader, this position will help lead a team of journalists from all levels of experience in a team-oriented environment and help with story generation as well as anchor from the field at times while thriving in breaking news situations. The position requires you to engage with viewers on all platforms. The ideal candidate will establish connections and be involved in community affairs and activities. This is not an entry level position.
Duties – (include but not limited to):
- Anchor regular newscasts.
- Producing required.
- Work well under pressure in deadline driven situations.
- Edit and write.
- Generate story ideas.
- Present news in a professional manner.
- Must have excellent leadership and people skills.
- Ability to connect with audience.
- Candidate must be able to work in the collaborative environment of the newsroom with flexibility.
Qualifications – (include but not limited to):
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of anchor experience preferred.
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills.
- Exceptional news judgment.
- Professional knowledge of broadcast news operations a plus.
- Knowledge of ENPS and Edius preferred.
- Must pass driver’s record check.
