Job Summary:
Gathers info and delivers informative and engaging on-air traffic reports
Responsibilities
• This position specializes in delivering traffic information
• Gathers information on traffic flow and traffic accident using online tools
• Monitors scanners and traffic cameras for impact on key routes
• Plans, writes, edits, and voices traffic reports and sponsor announcements
• Finalizes content using digital audio editing software
• Adheres to crucial deadlines in order to provide traffic information in a timely fashion
• May repackage content from partners
• Identifies technical equipment and resource requirements needed for improved traffic monitoring
• May produce stories, features and interviews as assigned
• Prepares written content, visual images, audio material and video footage for websites, blogs or other social-media platforms
Qualifications
• Must be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge of local highways and commute patterns
• Must have ability to convey traffic information to our listeners in a useful and engaging manner
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and social networking platforms
• Pleasant, charismatic and well-controlled voice; excellent pronunciation
• Ability to work both independently and also work collaboratively in a team environment
• Excellent writing and editing skills; proficient in grammar
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to become proficient in media production and broadcast systems
• Ability to plan and organize, set priorities and multi task in a fast-paced environment
Work Experience
• No previous experience is required
Education
• 4-year college degree is preferred, but not required
