DESCRIPTION

KWWL, the NBC affiliate serving northeastern Iowa, needs an experienced meteorologist who understands the importance of severe storm coverage.  From spring and summer tornadoes such as the Marshalltown tornado to winter blizzards, we see it all. We need someone who is a great forecaster, good communicator and calm under pressure.  We want you to be the fifth member of our weather team. You’d work with the next generation in weather graphics and storm tracking with the WSI Max system and live cameras throughout the DMA.  Plus, we have all the other tools you need to be successfully tell your weather story.

JOB EXPERIENCE

As a part time meteorologist, you’ll help fill in during vacations and other planned absences. But you’ll also be rounding out the weather team during severe weather coverage.  It’s not unusual for us to have three meteorologists on set when there’s big weather action. Duties would include live shots from major breaking weather stories across the 21 counties we serve.  Make no mistake, it may be a part time position, but you’d be a full-fledged member of the team.

REQUIREMENTS

Four year college degree in meteorology preferred and be detailed, organized, accurate and creative.
