DESCRIPTION
WTHR is looking for a multi-skilled, multi-talented journalist to help lead the best news team in Indiana. We are not just looking for an anchor to feature on the weekend morning news desk, we’re looking an outstanding journalist to create content for of one of the most successful television stations in the country. The ideal candidate will anchor 6 hours of Weekend Sunrise across 2 days and report for our Weekend Sunrise shows 3 days a week. This is a station with an unquestionably amazing legacy, we need someone to help us build for the future. This is a chance to make a difference in a great city and keep local journalism thriving.
Responsibilities:
You will be asked to lead, on and off camera. On the air you will need to be able deliver everything from breaking news to lighter moments in a conversational style. You’ll also be asked to contribute content on a regular basis to the shows you anchor. During your 3 days of reporting you'll be asked to tell compelling stories, break news and deliver a strong, conversational style. Off camera we’ll ask you to become a leader in the newsroom with a sound editorial voice and a passion to make our product the best it can be. You’ll be asked to maintain and curate multiple social media platforms that provide direct access to our viewers.
JOB EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience with at least some anchoring experience.
The ability to write compelling copy and tell engaging stories is a must as is an understanding of current content gathering and production techniques.
Edit and shooting ability preferred or willingness to learn.
Preferably all of that comes with someone who truly loves this job and telling the stories of the people watching.
At it’s heart journalism is vital but it can also be fun. Having someone who gets that is important.
