JOB EXPERIENCE
Are you a news producer who enjoys generating unique content as much as orchestrating all the moving parts of a live broadcast? Are you an avid news consumer who’s excited about serving a morning audience with complete and in-depth coverage of the day ahead? KXAN (NBC) in Austin, TX is looking for a full-time producer seeking to be part of a top-rated, highly collaborative newsroom, in one of the fastest growing and most desired cities.
The News Producer produces daily newscast items, decides the order in which stories will be told, writes teases and other content, times news programs, edits video, and posts video to the website.
- Selects and creates newscast content that aligns with KXAN’s in-depth, investigative brand
- Researches and writes news scripts
- Copyedits scripts
- Selects video and collaborates with video editors
- Generates and proofreads graphics
- Writes stories for digital platforms
- Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Minimum two years’ experience in news operations (Depending on market size)
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility to work any shift
