DESCRIPTION

9NEWS in Denver is looking for an expert to cover the most interesting weather in the world on our weekend newscasts. Colorado is a year round weather state with frequent winter storms, severe weather in the spring and summer and fires and floods that can happen any time. This is a key on-air position to present weather on our television and social and digital platforms.

This job is a salaried position that pays between $80,000 and $100,000 annually.

Responsibilities:

  • The key responsibility is the ability to predict the future, in terms of what's going to happen with weather today, tonight, tomorrow and next week.
  • 9NEWS Meteorologists prepare and present multiple weather reports in a day, using all the resources available to us including graphics, video and live cameras provided by the 9NEWS staff as well as user generated content.
  • Meteorologists also interact with other members of the on-air staff to produce a superior viewing experience.
  • Responsibilities also include presenting weather on multiple platforms including 9NEWS.com, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram as well as live video on our OTT channel when conditions warrant.

JOB EXPERIENCE


REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:

  • Three to five years of experience as an On-Air Broadcast Meteorologist is required.
  • Degree in Meteorology as well as a certification from the National Weather Service or the American Meteorological Society is preferred.
  • The ability to produce and deliver smooth on-air weather reports several times each day is required.
  • Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
  • Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
  • Physical Demands Set: Sedentary work: Involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
