The Media Strategist (MS) has an expert understanding of all WWL-TV/WUPL-TV /TEGNA's audience platforms and resources. The MS works side-by-side with Account Executives to understand the business needs and challenges for advertisers and translates their needs into innovative marketing solutions that deliver a strong ROI for the client, while yielding revenue-generating results for the station.


  • Has an in-depth understanding of WWL-TV/WUPL-TV/ TEGNA’s various products, verticals, and solutions, and can leverage that knowledge into meaningful, strategic recommendations for clients and sales team.
  • Keeps abreast of key industry and local trends and uses those insights to prospect new business opportunities for new and existing clients for the sales team.
  • Acts as a solution advisor to the sales team and supports AEs during interactions with prospective and existing advertisers—from ideation to implementation and tracking.
  • Meets with AE and/or Sales Management to clearly define what solutions are needed and creates a well-rounded proposal in Power Point. After review, sends proposal to AE or Sales Management.
  • When needed, collaborates across TEGNA markets to determine if an existing solution can be deployed (such as a Tegna Marketing Solutions program); develops unique concepts that address the desired business results.
  • Once the sale is made, works with AE to ensure smooth transition to Account Manager and the rest of the fulfillment team
  • Owns the relationship between Sales and Lifestyle show, Great Day Louisiana. Works with Sales Team and GDL staff to develop and fine-tune processes and workflow. Collaborates with Marketing, Sales and GDL to develop, create and execute innovative concepts designed to drive revenue.

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of three years of related experience in a pre-sale or account management role, preferably within the media industry
  • Equal parts creative & analytical—you love using both sides of your brain to drive impactful business results
  • Strong organizational & project management skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication—loves collaboration in a team setting
  • Strong understanding of media concepts, terms and creative
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including a strong working knowledge of Power Point
  • Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
  • Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
  • Physical Demands Set: Sedentary work: Involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
