DESCRIPTION

Are you passionate about video editing, journalism and creative expression? Do you like working in a vibrant newsroom producing video for broadcast, web and social media, then WBNS may be the right place for you. This position is responsible for learning and knowing all video shot by station photographers, CNN and CBS, consistent communication with producers, assignment desk, photographers and digital producers. The successful candidate should have previous professional newsroom experience and be accustomed to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with producers on the best video available and story treatment
  • Learn and master video formats and workflows
  • Learn and master Edius editing software, special effects and graphic placement
  • Learn station workflow and timing of systems
  • Operate edit “bar” – bring in live shots and feeds
  • Communicate best video options to digital producers for web and social media
  • Help manage Grass Valley storage system
  • Self-started, multi-tasker, willing to work production hours

REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:

  • Great communication skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure, live TV environment
  • Detail-oriented with great organizational skills
  • 1-3 years previous professional newsroom experience
  • Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
  • Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
  • Physical Demands Set: Sedentary work: Involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
