DESCRIPTION

WKYC-TV, the TEGNA NBC affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio, is looking for a full-time Director. The person filling this role is responsible for coding and punching our locally produced news content using Sony ELC automation. The director works closely with the Production Manager and producers in the news department to create fast-paced, graphic & video-driven, compelling and clean newscasts. Our directors are key to making our shows the best they can be and are held to high standards.

We are seeking an individual who can handle a fast-paced and dynamic newscast along with directing other programming as needed. The ideal candidate will bring new, forward-thinking production ideas to the table to help us adapt to a constantly changing viewer base.

Responsibilities:

  • Program and operate Sony ELC automation system for newscasts and various types of local and streaming programming.
  • Maintain technical integrity of shows working with established technical equipment.
  • Must have a working knowledge of newsroom computer systems, preferably ENPS.
  • Assist production staff in all areas of studio operation or remote productions.

JOB EXPERIENCE


REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of medium to major size market directing experience, preferably in production automation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Sony ELC automation system (or similar), Sony video switcher, Chyron Prime CG, ENPS and Bitcentral Precis video playback systems.
  • Strong computer aptitude with a preference for those with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects skills, along with a proficiency in all Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability and flexibility to work any shift including overnights, mornings, daytime, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Non-Linear editing skills a plus.
  • College degree in related field preferred.
  • Application should be accompanied by a demo reel of recent and relevant work.
  • Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
  • Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
  • Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
