DESCRIPTION
The Chief Photographer oversees the day-to-day operations of the Photography/Editing division and is responsible for the maintenance of all photography technology and equipment for the news department.
Responsibilities
- Trains, manages, evaluates, and develops a team of photographers and editors
- Performs photographer duties as required by shooting video, editing packages and VOSOT’s in the field and at the station
- Gather factual information to support news stories
- Operates live microwave and satellite trucks in remote situations
- Maintain camera gear, light kits, computers, edit systems, audio, etc.
- Additional duties as necessary
Job Knowledge and Skills
- Degree in television production, journalism, or communications desired
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a photographer in a television broadcasting environment, management experience a plus
- Experience with satellite trucks
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Extensive knowledge of professional lighting, audio, video, cable maintenance, etc.
- Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite: Premier and TVU or similar data-based transmission
- FAA certified Drone pilot with current license a plus
