WTOL-TV is seeking a full-time Broadcast Engineer to serve in various production crew positions during live news broadcasts, recorded studio, and remote productions.

This is an entry-level position. An ambitious individual will gain experience in all technical areas of the station, including production, directing, IT, and engineering.


  • Initial responsibilities will be operation of pedestal studio cameras, gimbal cameras, lighting board, and floor directing.
  • Progression then goes to the operation of the audio console. It can eventually include control room directing/switching, IT projects, or other tasks in line with individual and station needs.




  • 1-3 years of industry experience preferred
  • Ability to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. plus with or without assistance

Preferred candidates will possess:

  • Working knowledge of studio operations
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic understanding of newsroom systems (e.g., ENPS, BC Precis)
  • Customer service orientation
  • Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
  • Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
  • Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc
